Quality Lot Management

I've been in the Lot Management business for just under a year now and I still struggle to understand why some dealerships don't put more photos online JUST BECAUSE of the higher cost that we as Lot Management companies must charge. I know the economy is tough, but it would seem that one area you would not want to cut back in is your online representation of your inventory. None of our high line dealerships or import dealers have cut back, only our domestic brand dealers. But the one dealer that stepped it up to 27 photos, a Dodge dealer, is experiencing great results.

I would be interested to hear from dealers that have reduced their cost by reducing their photos used in online advertising, because I would like to know if you have felt any noticeable effect from it. On certain sites you will definitely be less successful, but if you've found a way to compensate for this, I would love to know about it. Perhaps I can adjust my service offering to what is working for the dealers in today's tough economy.

I agree. We currently average about 50+ photos each car ad. The description and more pictures are what sells the car. Keep in mind, most buyers are buying for the first time online. My job is to note any and all defects along with the positive points of the vehicle they are looking at. Mention the imperfections, followed by a positive. The more pictures, the better response you will get. Heck, we have just started even adding videos of the engine idling, imagine that. So, if picture were not important, why would it expand into the video aspect also? Post them pics, a minimum of 30.
