I am interested in hearing feedback from anyone who has experience with dealership marketing via online video sharing sites such as YouTube....possibly using teasers in traditional sources such as liners?
Well, many auto groups, i.e. Johnson Automotive in NC have a huge following for youtube viewers, and quite possibly have the best message as far as my personal opinion goes. Have you seen the badger ad? However, I have to say that it took them roughly 3 million dollars to create the set of ads, respectfully receiving a lot of exposure on youtube. Honestly though, not many dealerships have that large of a check on hand, and many people do not get on youtube to see dealer ads. The one thing though that youtube is good for is for hosting a video. For example, I have seen dealerships put links for their used cars on their website-linking them to a video of the car. A picture is worth a thousand words. There are 24 pictures per second of film. 30 seconds equals 720,000 words. Just to give you an idea, Tolstoy's War and Peace has about 560,000. Point taken!
The Badger ads rock-no doubt! I was however hoping to be able to make an impact without spending 7 figures to do so! BTW, if I was going to spend that kind of money it would be well spent if I came up with something as memorable and clever as these ads. A good friend of mine is opening up a brand new Porsche dealership for these folks in Annapolis, and we were discussing how a campaign such as this has a halo effect over the whole organization.
I use you tube regularly, I cannot see any real business from it but when tags are used it does increase your visability when video searches are made. I have had thousands of views on the vidoes online from commercials to walk arounds.
