The Audi A2 89bhp 1.4-litre unit has 24bhp more than the existing 1.4 TDi. It's 1.5mpg more efficient, too, returning 65.7mpg on the combined fuel cycle.

Priced from £15,090, the new model is £680 more than the 75bhp version, and remains in the lowest 15% company car tax band because it meets Euro IV emissions standards, so avoiding the usual 3% penalty on diesels
