About Me:
Motor Trade Insider is a collective of seasoned Motor Trade professionals with many, many years of experience in all aspects of the trade from humble sales driver right through to general manger. Perhaps the most important times were in sales management, the psychology of extracting the very best performance from some limited people and understanding how to manipulate customers and situations in order to maximize profit opportunities. The insider is in service and parts and the car factory too and has always tried to achieve the highest standards of after-sales care and professionalism.

The bottom line is that like any retail business, people are the vital ingredient both the frontline staff and obviously the customers. Motor Trade Insider has seen many things over the years which perpetuate the perceived wisdom that the business is ‘dodgy’ and unfortunately, although greatly improved, there are still many situations where people are driving away from showrooms, auctions and car centre’s etc. with the wrong car which ultimately means losing money unnecessarily.

Motor Trade Insider aims to help redress this balance and show people how to have a positive enjoyable experience wherever they chose to buy their next car or have it fixed and maintained. Cars will always lose money it’s a fact of life but the secret is to minimize those losses by getting the very best from your purchase in order to ensure the maximum value possible whatever the circumstances.

Motor Trade Insider has a passionate desire to advise and educate, we hope with our unique insight that we can inform, entertain and assist. The decision to let more people know and understand how the Motor Trade operates comes from a simple desire to share our knowledge and benefit as wide an audience as possible.

If the outlet or medium you choose to buy your next car from is doing their job properly and you are happy with your experience they have nothing to fear. However the dealers and sellers who continue to rip-off, disrespect and provide unacceptable service, wherever they reside, beware! Motor Trade Insider is on to you!

For all potential customers who find this major event in their lives daunting, relax we’re on your side and we guarantee a safe haven with only the latest, best quality information and advice from deep inside the trade, so put your seatbelts on and enjoy the ride!

Finally why the silhouettes? Well, all the contributors are still actively working in the trade so their identities must remain secret.

Insider view

Having visited some dealers today, I was struck by just how busy they were. In some cases customers were queuing up and there weren’t enough salespeople to see them, so I asked myself ‘crisis? what crisis?’ The theme however is that although people are buying they, quite rightly, expect a good deal and a first class service. It was also interesting to see that most of the cars being offered for trade in were large engine 4-5 yr old petrol cars meaning that the threat of…

A happy ending...

The story of my friend who recently divorced and had to go into the dangerous world of used car sales has come to a happy conclusion I am pleased to report, however before I tell the tale let me just recap some of the events leading up to the purchase.
After we left the auction and she had a broad idea of the car she needed (i.e. a 5 door 1.4 with air-conditioning, metallic pa…

The greedy dealer and the customer who hit back!

You know that we here at Motor Trade Insider are all about helping the beleaguered motorist fight back with real “insider” info, tricks of the trade and advice, well we thought you might be interested in the little tale of the greedy car salesman and the customer who hit back. This is a true story and I could name the car dealer concerned but I think he’s probably suffered enough.<!--more-->

It all starts with a young man (let’s call him Peter) who has a car which he reasonably co…

Hi Motor Trade Insider,

If any of these dealers you visit originate their own loans and are looking to sell notes, please let them know about GDNAuto (www.gdnauto.com). We pay referral fees. Membership is free and we offer dealers 1/2 of their first transaction fees.

Thanks!
Monica
