Social Media and the Car Business... An Interesting mix... or NOT...

I find it interesting that there are very few car dealers embracing social media today. It would seem most of us are more consumed with creating traffic with a strong call to action, competing on price, and overall interrupting consumers, as opposed to engaging them.

This seems, to me, to be counter-intuitive. There are so many sites out there now that we can use to engage a viable audience for free. Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, and the like, all offer enormous opportunities to change the way we market to our customers. I am curious as to what, if any, measures this community is taking to add this to the marketing medium employed.

The days of the shouting car dealer commercial aspect of marketing is rapidly ending. We should all be very, very afraid. Unless, of course, you are doing something different. My question to you is, what are you doing TODAY that is going to positively influence your business TOMORROW? What are you doing to incorporate the new social media marketing aspect into your business?

I have nothing at all to sell, I simply want to broach the subject of change. What used to work no longer does. I would love to hear what each and everyone of you are doing to take your businesses to the next level.

Looking forward to driving the conversation forward...

Hey Tom, it's interesting you brought up this point. My team is currently working on a startup that is looking to help dealers garner leads through social and interactive media.

We would love to get some early adopters to try out our service at www.easyautosales.com and see how we can get you guys more leads. The current online model needs a serious revamp.
